Epidemic risk projections powered by geo-intelligence

In 2020, we were joined by Dr. Jessie Abbate, a researcher in infectious disease ecology and epidemiology. We have since been working on a research and development project to design Epiwise, a platform for anticipating and communicating epidemiological threats impacted by fluctuation in environmental factors, including animal and human behavior. This work is enabling access to geo-intelligence for producing risk indicators, early warning, and response services for governments and industry.

Anticipate to Mitigate

As our environment and behaviors continue to change, anticipating associated public health risks becomes more and more challenging.

Geospatial technologies can rapidly provide information about these crucial changes, a large volume of data that remains largely inaccessible for operational use for risk mitigation and response. This is where Geomatys comes in.

The Epiwise solution

The Epiwise project is rooted in Examind Datacube software, which features advanced mechanisms for on-the-fly data extraction and transformation while guaranteeing performance, enabling the processing of large amounts of geospatial data for use by epidemic risk models. Combining spatio-temporal analytics, AI/ML methods, simulation and classical epidemic modeling, Epiwise is able to seamlessly integrate information from diverse data sources to produce population risk stratifications and to support decision-making.

Aspire with ESA

In 2022, Geomatys and the Epiwise project were named winners of the « Aspire With ESA » development grant, awarded to five innovative companies using geospatial data to give them a boost in their projects.

Epiwise and sustainable development

The Epiwise project directly addresses three of the UN’s seventeen Sustainable Development Goals, namely SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities & Communities), and SDG 13 (Combating Climate Change).
