OPAT - Ocean Plastic Alert & Tracking

Born of Geomatys' desire to design a geospatial service useful in the fight against environmental pollution, OPAT (Ocean Plastic Alert & Tracking) is a system for alerting and detecting plastics at sea, and anticipating their potential drift. This project, based on Examind Datacube, enables spatio-temporal analysis of geospatial data, and consequently prediction of plastic waste drift.

In November 2023, OPAT was awarded the CASSINI Prize by EUSPA. The award recognized the best innovative commercial solutions that leverage the EU's space program to detect, monitor and remove plastics from oceans and waterways.

ShoreInt is not limited to detecting plastics in the ocean. Our platform is designed to evolve and adapt to specific user needs. In addition to OPAT, the platform integrates other specialized applications. These include, for example, tools to monitor illegal fishing using AIS data, a maritime traffic monitoring system to better understand the impact of recreational boating activities, and coastline monitoring modules to anticipate the effects of erosion and climate change.
