CSR at Geomatys

Geomatys works hard to perfect its environmental involvement within its projects, embracing social values of inclusivity, equality and diversity.

CONSIDERING CSR EVEN AT THE SME SCALE

“The topic of the thematic platforms developed by Geomatys (Global Health, Water Quality, Coastal Management) shows the company's choice to position itself on themes with a strong environmental and societal impact. The CSR approach supports this internal dynamic. In an evolving economic, social and environmental context, Corporate Social Responsibility has become a key element of sustainable development. For an SME, adopting a CSR approach is not only an ethical imperative, but also a genuine opportunity to stand out from the pack and enhance its performance and competitiveness. CSR involves integrating social, environmental and economic concerns into activities and interactions with stakeholders (customers, employees, suppliers, local communities, etc.). It's not just a matter of complying with legislation, but of demonstrating a proactive desire to make a positive contribution to society while generating value. For an SME, this can take the form of concrete actions such as optimizing resources, respecting employee rights, reducing its ecological footprint or participating in environmental initiatives. These commitments, though binding, help to build a solid brand image, attract new customers and talent, and strengthen employee loyalty. By integrating CSR into its business strategy, our SME is positioning itself as a responsible player committed to the positive transformation of society.”

An involved company

Responsible employment

Our hiring process aims to be as objective and honest as possible, while respecting the principles of personal data protection. New recruits are supported before their arrival. We ensure that the company is based on a balanced age pyramid (20-30, 30-40, 40-50 and 50-60 make up a quarter of the workforce each), with young people entering the job market benefiting from the experience of older people, while finding an outlet for their new ideas.

Integration of disabled people

Geomatys' size does not require it to have a percentage of disabled employees, however, we do have one disabled person on our staff.

In fact, by creating the right working conditions, these people are a real boost to Geomatys performance.

Preventing psychosocial risks

As part of its efforts to prevent psychosocial risks, Geomatys has been running a monthly “360” interview for many years, enabling employees to express their views on the various problems they encounter, in total confidentiality. This helps Geomatys' Human Resources Department to identify potential problems, prevent their recurrence or the emergence of new ones.

Social policies

Geomatys has always placed great importance on people, both in the development of its projects and in the development of the company as a whole. We understand that a company's development depends on the involvement of its employees. The company builds loyalty with its employees just as it does with its customers. Geomatys' hiring policy is based on recruiting, for the most part, young talent. This ongoing training represents a major investment for the company, but the return in terms of innovative ideas is unquestionable. This policy provides an incomparable dynamism for a company more than 19 years old. The juniors are given the opportunity to express their ideas, while the seniors add to their feedback... This osmosis brings dynamism and innovation to developments.

Geomatys also encourages continuing education for its staff. Several senior developers have completed a Master's degree during their time at Geomatys.

Finally, Geomatys occasionally carries out initiatives to help people back into employment, in addition to those explicitly requested in its public contracts, as illustrated by the fact that in March 2024 it took on a person undergoing immersion training (https://www.geomatys.com/2024/03/21/le-rse-et-nous/ ). This type of program takes place 1 or 2 times a year, and is designed to help people who are a long way from employment to consider a career in IT.

Daily gestures

Geomatys has launched an eco-responsible policy for all its activities. This involves, first and foremost, raising employee awareness of the environmental impact of their professional activities. In the context of an IT services company, this takes the form of :

  • Encourage employees to switch off their computers before leaving the office,
  • Turn off air conditioning and heating when staff leave the office.
  • Maximize business travel by train or car-sharing.
  • Limit printing on paper by encouraging double-sided printing
  • Most employees get to work by bike or public transport.
  • Purchase of eco-responsible coffee for grinding and use of glass cups instead of plastic cups.
